Why it is built this way.

Why the zip stops above the fold.

The zip turns 15 mm down each gusset and stops in a leather garage above the facet fold line. The track never crosses a crease, and the bag opens from either end without fighting the fold.

Why the lining is not leather.

Leather is specified where it carries load or takes wear. A full leather lining would add close to 200 g to a bag that weighs 1.15–1.30 kg empty, without changing how it performs.

What it does not do.

  • The front pocket takes a card and a receipt, not a phone. The phone belongs in the main compartment, which stays zipped.
  • There is no rigid board. The structure comes from the 120 mm gusset and a reinforced flat base.
  • It stands unaided when empty. Loaded, it is not claimed to.
  • The strap's longest drop is 550 mm. That is crossbody on a tall wearer, not on everyone.
